The Adoption Process
How Does Adoption Work?
All Animal Protection League animals remain in their current homes or in foster care homes until they are adopted. We do not currently operate a shelter facility. All APL pets are available at no charge to good homes and there is never a charge for our services. However, we would ask you to consider making a donation to the APL as your heart sees fit. There are no geographic limitations for referrals.

We act as a referral network to match up people looking to adopt with those who have animals available for adoption. In this way, we keep as many as possible out of area pounds and shelters where they may be exposed to illnesses, experience behavior problems, and, of course, may be threatened with euthanasia.

When we have is an animal listed that you are particularly interested in, we will refer you with the owner's name and number and you are free to contact them directly for additional information and to make arrangements to meet. If it's a good match, everybody wins! And that's all there is to it!

You can make a difference!

Visit our Petfinder.com listings before you adopt a new cat or dog. Your love will make the difference to a local animal in need of a permanent home.
